Class Risers

There are only three reasons why a trainer raises his horse in class: 1) The horse needs further conditioning and the trainer doesn't want to lose him via the claiming box 2) The trainer believes the horse is now ready to defeat better animals 3) Claiming rules requires that the horse be raised in class following a claim.

Angle plays:
1. Horse was moved up in claiming price last race.
2. Horse finished in the money, no more than 5 lengths behind winner. if it won, it must be more than 1 length in front.
3. If tied, play the horse going at higher odds today.
4. Require at least 3-1 odds.
