Identifying Suspicious Class Drops

The fundamental principle: If it doesn’t make economic sense, it doesn’t make handicapping sense. If a favorite is dropping in class for no apparent reason, bet against it. Always ask yourself, “Why is this horse in this race?”

1) Drops below the price at which he was recently claimed.
2) Drops in class off a win.
3) Drops two classes off an in the money finish .
4) Drops three classes or more for any reason.
5) Hasn’t had a race or workout within 21 days.
6) Performed well in a MDN non-claimer and is dropping into MDN claimer.
