Throw out any horse that failed to finish first or second in at least one of its last three races and three of its past eight races.
Do not consider it a closer if it shows any first or second running lines in any of the first three calls of its running lines.
The final consideration iis that the closer must have passed at least three horses, while gaining ground from the pre-stretch call to the finish.
