The dirt course at Saratoga is know as a speed-favoring strip. Speed has a distinct advantage during the first two weeks of the six week meet. During the middle two weeks of the meeting, closers begin to win and have their best chances in the last two weeks.
As the meeting progresses, wager against runners that were aided by the early speed bias. Conversely, closers which over came this bias and won are good bets to repeat.
